Snapfish is one of the most popular online photo printing services. You can upload photos from your computer or cell phone or send in a roll of film to be developed. Their website is easy to use, and allows you to share your photos with friends and family.

Using the Site
Snapfish’s advantages include an easy-to-use website with lots of bonus features. It’s free to open an account, and you get some free prints with sign-up. After the free prints, Snapfish boasts some pretty low prices, starting at 12¢ per 4×6 print. The site also makes it easy to upload photos and organize them into albums by taking you through a step-by-step process. To make uploading even easier, you can download Snapfish PictureMover. You can then invite your friends and family to view your photos and order their own prints from them.

Once your photos are uploaded, you can take advantage of several options. Snapfish includes some free editing tools, such as black-and-white, cropping, red-eye removal, and adding borders. It also offers a wide variety of gifts that you can make from your pictures, including photo books, calendars, coffee mugs, mouse pads, and more.
Snapfish has an “active member” online storage policy. As long as you make any purchase from Snapfish in a 365-day period, you can host as many photos for as long as you want. If you go 335 days without making a purchase, the company will send you a notification encouraging you to do so.

Ordering Prints
The defining service of an online photo printing company is the actual photo printing. Ordering prints from Snapfish is quick and easy: just click the “order prints” button; select which photos you want prints of; choose the size, quantity, and finish (glossy or matte); and you’re good to go. Snapfish also gives you the option of which ratio to print your photos in: 4×6 (traditional size for film cameras and picture frames) or 4×5.3 (the typical ratio for digital images, which reduces the need for cropping).

When it comes to ordering prints, Snapfish delivers. Literally. We placed an order for 27 prints on a Friday, using standard 3-5 day shipping. The prints arrived on Monday, and the order was filled perfectly. The packaging was a little soft – a large paper envelope with a smaller, inner envelope – but the pictures were in perfect condition. Since our first prints were free, we only paid $2.49 for shipping.

Print Quality
We were very pleased with the prints we received from Snapfish. They were printed on Fujicolor Crystal Archive paper, and were good quality photos. There were two things we noticed, however: 1) The photos had a slight yellow tint. This was only noticeable upon comparison with other prints of the same photos, and in some cases we felt it was actually an improvement on the original. 2) The cropping was a little tighter than the online image. Both of these were only noticed after close observation, and were not enough to detract from the overall look of the photos. In general, we were very pleased with Snapfish’s service.
