Clark Color Review

**** 4.0 Out of 5

Clark Color is a simple, easy-to-use online photo printing service. You can upload digital photos or send in rolls of film to be developed – they’ll even send you free mailers for your film. Their site also allows you to invite friends and family (via email) to view your photos online. Our experience with Clark Color showed us that this service is all about one thing: quality.

Using the Site
Signing up for Clark Color is free, and comes with 20 free prints. After you use up all your free ones, it’s 11¢ per 4×6 print – the best deal we’ve seen so far. Once your pictures are uploaded you can organize them into albums. Once all of your photos are online you can use any of a number of free editing tools, including red-eye removal, cropping, and applying tints and borders.

Clark Color’s layout and design make it easy to navigate. Whether you’re ready to upload photos, edit and crop, or order prints and gifts, this website makes it easy. Along with regular photo prints, the site has gifts to offer, like cards, photo books, coffee mugs, posters, and more – all of which you can order customized with your photos.

One of the only downsides with this service is that Clark Color only has a 60-day online storage policy. This means that they will hold your photos for 60 days from the date of uploading. You can invite others to view your photos within this window, but if you do not order prints within 60 days you’ll have to upload them again. This policy is not great for sharing online, but Clark Color’s specialty is in actual photo printing.

Ordering Prints
Clark Color makes ordering prints easy. Just click on “Order Prints,” select the photos you want, and you’re off. You can choose the size and quantity of each photo, and glossy or matte finish for each order.

We placed an order on a Thursday and received it the following Tuesday, using standard shipping (3-5 business days). The packaging was a little soft – two paper envelopes – but the pictures arrived in good condition. We ordered 25 prints and paid $1.97 in shipping.

Print Quality
This is where we were most pleased with Clark Color’s service. The prints we received from them were excellent. Of all the services we’ve used and reviewed, the photos we received from Clark Color had the best clarity and color. The cropping was barely off; not enough to make me forget how great the color and sharpness were. The photos were printed on Fujicolor Crystal Archive paper.

Conclusion

Online Service & Sharing: *** 3 out of 5

Print Quality: ***** 5 out of 5

Overall: **** 4 out of 5

As we mentioned before, the secret to Clark Color’s success is one word: quality. Clark Color is not the best site for sharing photos online, so if that’s your goal then you may want to use another service. However, if you want high quality photo prints at great prices, then Clark Color may be just what you’re looking for. Sign up now and get 20 free prints!
